Chances are you thought you were going to take it easy this afternoon ahead of a big New Year's Eve which includes a College Football Playoff doubleheader. You were wrong.
Villanova and Xavier kick off an amazing double-header (with Butler-Providence to follow) for the Big East, and for the Wildcats it's a chance to give the doubters something to think about as they look for a third-straight Big East regular season championship.
While Villanova struggled against Top 5 competition, Xavier was rolling through a very good non-conference schedule to a perfect 12-0 record. They haven't come close to beating Villanova in five tries since joining the Big East, and would like nothing more than to make a statement win to open the conference season.
It's going to be a damn good game.
Game Time, TV Schedule: 12:00pm ET. The game will be aired on Fox Sports 1.
Odds: OddsShark reports the game opened at Villanova -3.5 with the line being bought to -4.5 as of Wednesday evening.

BEVERAGE OF CHOICE
Tito's Vodka on the rocks, splash of club soda, lemon and lime wedges. Make it a double if you're feeling extra ornery.
Big game, so break out the big bottle. Sub in any vodka of your choice (Vladamir works just fine for all you Villanova students), but Tito's is the play here because it's not going to give you a massive hangover, and you're going to need to rally yourself for New Year's Eve if you haven't grown out of it or gotten married and your spouse made plans that you want no part of. I'm just looking out for you here.
I learned to love this drink at the many Delta Sky Clubs I've visited over the past few years. It's light, refreshing, and gets the job done. And before you know it you'll be screaming at your TV - hopefully for a good reason - like I've done several times at the many Delta Sky Clubs I've visited.
