2016 Villanova Basketball Preview: The 'New' Bench Mob

There’s been some turnover on the end of the bench.

Tom Leibig

Hometown: Havertown, Pa.

High School: Haverford (Pa.)

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 195

Matt Kennedy

Hometown: Fairfax, Va.

High School: Flint Hill (Va.)

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 175

Denny Grace

Hometown: Catonsville, Md.

High School: Calvert Hall (Md.)

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 175

Tom Leibig, a junior from right down the road, earned his roster spot this year after serving as a practice player. Leibig was an All-Conference player his senior season, and judging by an old CoBL game report Leibig is a pretty good shot from downtown.

Matt Kennedy is also a sniper, after leading his high school conference in 3P% as a senior. He’s earned his roster spot after spending his first two years on campus as a practice player.

Denny Grace holds a familar last name to Villanova diehards - his older brother Tommy was a four-year walk-on to the men’s team in the early 2000s. Denny is a senior who spent his first three years as a practice player.

Best Case Scenario: There’s nothing like rooting for a blowout so The Bench Mob can get some game action. With Villanova looking at another season camped inside the Top 10 there should be ample opportunity for these three to score their first career points. In an ideal world, all three of them do. And of course, we root for some GIFable moments.

Worst Case Scenario: Simple enough - the starter’s fail to put team away early and these guys don’t see the court.

The Wisdom of Crowds Returns

We are pleased to bring back our Wisdom of Crowds experiment for the 2016-2017 season. In this series, we ask that you consider the points covered in our player preview to supplement your own personal insights and instincts to predict the points per game each scholarship player on the roster we score in the upcoming season.

However, we're going to change the eqation here for The Bench Mob.
