AP Preseason Top 25: Villanova comes in at #4

Duke is the easy #1 with Kentucky and Kansas close behind.

The AP released their 2016-17 Preseason Top 25 and the reigning national champion Villanova Wildcats came in at the #4 spot.

Duke came in at #1 collecting 58 of 65 1st place votes. Kentucky and Kansas were the other schools picked ahead of ‘Nova. Oregon rounded out the top 5.

The BIG EAST was also represented by Xavier at #7 and Creighton at #22 with Butler and Seton Hall receiving votes. A pair of Nova’s out of conference opponents also cracked the poll with Virginia at #8 and Purdue at #15.

Villanova was tabbed at #3 in the previously released Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats’ season tips off with an exhibition on November 5th against IUP and then, in earnest, against Lafayette on November 11th.
