Prior to last week's Xavier game, it was widely accepted that Villanova wasn't going to be hurt by a road loss to a Top 5 team. That proved true, though the Wildcats certainly have gotten some help from those around them. Villanova is still widely considered to be a #1 seed, which an average seed of 1.04 across nearly 100 brackets per Bracket Matrix.
As has been the case most of the year, they're likely going to be in a dogfight for the East region. With Kansas essentially having a stranglehold on the #1 overall seed at this stage (and heading to the Midwest as a result) somebody is going to head West as the last seed on the top line.
Villanova is in control right now as long as it doesn't screw up down the stretch (hi Georgetown!), but with Virginia, North Carolina, Xavier and Michigan State all playing well nothing is finalized. All of those teams would rather land in Philadelphia than Anaheim.
