Purdue will host Villanova in the 2016 Gavitt Games

New, comments

That's a nice addition to the schedule.

The always reliable Jon Rothstein has been tweeting out the 2016 Gavitt Games matchups in the last few minutes, and it looks your Villanova Wildcats will be heading to West Lafayette in 2016 to face the Purdue Boilermakers.

After the disappointing Nebraska matchup from this past season fans hoped for a more marquee opponent - Indiana, Michigan State, Michigan, etc. But Purdue was a Top 15 team in KenPom this year, returns a lot, and historically is a pretty good basketball program. It's not the sexiest name but it makes for a better addition to the schedule than you first think.

Here are the other Gavitt matchups, all dates and times TBD:

Home Away
Purdue Boilermakers Villanova Wildcats
Georgetown Hoyas Maryland Terrapins
Ohio State Buckeyes Providence Friars
Creighton Bluejays Wisconsin Badgers
Iowa Hawkeyes Seton Hall Pirates
Butler Bulldogs Northwestern Wildcats
Minnesota Golden Gophers St. John's Red Storm
DePaul Blue Demons Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Hide yo kids, hide yo wife, and hide yo husbands too from that DePaul-Rutgers dumpster fire.
