Ticket details for Villanova-Penn at Jake Nevin Fieldhouse released

Sorry season ticket holders, but this is the right move.

Today Villanova released more details for the forthcoming Villanova Wildcats-Penn Quakers affair at Jake Nevin Fieldhouse. Unsurprisingly, the event has drawn huge demand from the public.

Villanova has not played a game there since 1986 and theoretically will only be playing there for one game this season before returning to the renovated Pavlion next year. That’s made it a must-have ticket for die-hards.

Unfortunately, most won’t be able to get in the building. From the school:

“After careful consideration, we have decided to place a priority on including the Villanova student body, former players and family members of the current team,” stated Villanova Director of Athletics Mark Jackson. “This will be our only on-campus men’s game of the season and we want to say thank you to the student body whose vocal support at our home games is such an integral part of the Villanova Basketball experience and the former players who helped build this great tradition.”

The building will hold just 2,200 people for the game against Penn, the building will be mostly students.

Let me be clear on my position: This is 100% the right move and I’m glad the school went this way. This is student-only* and I couldn’t be happier.

* The reality is families are going to attend, and so are big donors. Adding former players to the mix is a nice touch too.

Mark it down. October 4th, 2017. The day when Villanova Athletics got it right in the eyes of yours truly.
