Happy Selection Sunday, ‘Nova Nation! At 5:30pm ET - or you know, sometime in the following 90 minutes - we’ll get the NCAA Tournament bracket and know what the Villanova Wildcats’ path to a second straight National Championship entails.
There won’t be much drama with the ‘Cats seeding tonight. Bracket Matrix and just about any talking head out there (we see you Doug Gottlieb) to has ‘Nova penciled in as the #1 overall seed which wil put them in the coveted East region.
CBS and ESPN update their brackets more frequently than most others but you can find links to pretty much any bracket via the Bracket Matrix link above. Here are the latest from Jerry Palm and Joe Lunardi as of Saturday night for Villanova’s East region.
CBS Sports Bracketology (Jerry Palm)
- Villanova
- North Carolina
- UCLA
- West Virginia
- SMU
- Saint Mary’s
- Maryland
- Northwestern
ESPN Bracketology (Joe Lunardi)
- Villanova
- Baylor
- Notre Dame
- Florida State
- Iowa State
- Michigan
- Maryland
- Northwestern
The big results last night were Duke’s win over Notre Dame, which seems to have vaulted the Blue Devils to the 1-line, and Arizona’s win over Oregon which may vault the Wildcats to the 2-seed in the West at the expense of the Ducks (who just lost Chris Boucher to a torn ACL). There are still several games on Sunday which can impact the bracket:
- Kentucky vs. Arkansas (1pm ET, ESPN)
- Michigan vs. Wisconsin (3pm ET, CBS)
- Cincinnati vs. SMU (3:15pm ET, ESPN)
Who do you want to see? Who do you want to avoid? I’d sign up for Lunardi’s bracket right now, but I doubt that Villanova’s going to get Baylor as their 2-seed.
