The weekend kicked off in fine fashion last night as we watched Josh Hart get drafted with the last pick in the first round (guaranteed money!), and later it was reported that Kris Jenkins was one of the first UDFA’s off the board, signing with the Wizards.
Things won’t slow down much this weekend, so here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening:
Starting Friday night, Villanova will host the second rendition of their Team Camp which brings in various high school programs from around the region. The opening sessions didn’t disappoint, and we’re expecting another weekend of pseudo unofficials from top prospects.
Two big names that are already confirmed - 2019 5-stars Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis will be on the Main Line with The Ranney School (N.J.).
In the class of 2018, three major targets are taking official visits this weekend to the competition. Perhaps the #1 target for 2018, 5-star point guard Jahvon Quinerly is taking his first official visit to Arizona. Sean Miller already has a verbal elite PG Brandon Williams, so it doesn’t appear there’s much to worry about here.
4-star power forward Jalen Smith is taking his first official visit to Maryland, the perceived leader in his recruitment. For weeks this looked like a #CommitWatch for the Terps, but Smith has said he’s going to take officials to Villanova, Virginia and Syracuse before making a decision. I wouldn’t rule out a weekend decision completely though.
Speaking of #CommitWatch, 4-star sniper Cole Swider heads to Duke this weekend after seeing Syracuse earlier this week. He has a scheduled visit to Xavier early next week, but Duke will surely put the full-court press on this weekend. Villanova is still a TBD on the official visit schedule.
In what may be a signal of how they feel about Swider, Villanova offered 4-star shooter Dane Goodwin after he decommitted from Ohio State and subsequently visited. With Robby Carmody committing to Notre Dame, ‘Nova appears in good position for Goodwin.
With Robby Carmody off the board to Notre Dame, its likely down to Ohio State and Villanova for Dane Goodwin https://t.co/dwFSDWTFzB

Keep your eyes open this weekend - there’s bound to be some action.
