Villanova guard Collin Gillespie returning soon

Help is on the way.

Jon Rothstein is dropping that scolding hot scoop this morning, tweeting out that Villanova Wildcats freshman guard Collin Gillespie could return as soon as next week.

Gillespie has been sidelined since early December with a wrist/hand injury, putting a stunt in his development. Gillespie’s timetable to return was initially 3-4 weeks from Dr. Jay Wright, and was later downgraded to a 6-8 week injury.

A return next week when the ‘Cats face Providence and Marquette would be right at 6 weeks and would provide a nice boost to the rotation. Gillespie was averaging over 13 mpg prior the injury and provided solid shooting off the catch.

Jermaine Samuels is still on the shelf and likely wouldn’t return until mid-February at the earliest.
