The Big East released its individual preseason awards on Thursday morning.
The Villanova Wildcats’ Jahvon Quinerly and the Providence Friars’ David Duke will share the preseason Big East Freshman of the Year honors.
Quinerly, a former McDonald’s All-American, comes to ‘Nova as one of the top point guards in the country after his time at Hudson Catholic (N.J.). He was ranked No. 28 overall and a five-star prospect in the Class of 2018.
He shared the honor with David Duke Jr., Providence’s top recruit. Duke was ranked No. 47 nationally and a four-star prospect according to 247 Sports.
As for the other big individual preseason award, the Big East Preseason Player of the Year, that was awarded to St. John’s Shamorie Ponds.
