The John R. Wooden Award released their list of 15 finalists for their Player of the Year Award yesterday. Villanova had two players on that list.
Junior point guard Jalen Brunson and red shirt junior wing Mikal Bridges were named to the final ballot. The Wooden Award National Advisory Board will decide among the 15 finalists for the Wooden Award All American Team and the Wooden Award trophy.
Villanova is the only school with two players in the final 15. The Big East has three total representatives, as Xavier senior Trevon Bluiett also made the final list. The Big 12 led all conferences with five finalists, and the Big Ten joined the Big East with three. The ACC has two finalists, and the Pac-12 and WCC are also represented.
Both Brunson and Bridges have had tremendous seasons in what is likely their last year on the main line.
Brunson finished the regular season averaging 19 points and 4.8 assists per game on 52.8% shooting from the field and 40.5% shooting from three.
Bridges ended his season averaging 17.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game on 51.1% shooting from the field and a career best 42% from three.
Voting will take place from March 12th to March 19th, and fans can vote here: www.woodenawardvote.com.
