Villanova’s Jalen Brunson named Bob Cousy Point Guard Award finalist

Brunson averaged 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists through the regular season.

Villanova junior point guard Jalen Brunson is one of five finalists for the 2018 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Monday.

Brunson, who was named to the BIG EAST All-Conference First Team on Sunday, is second in the conference in scoring at 19.0 points per game while adding 4.8 assists and 3 rebounds.

North Carolina’s Joel Barry II and three from the Big 12; Kansas’ Devonte’ Graham, West Virginia’s Javon Carter, and Oklahoma’s Trae Young are also finalists.

The winner will be determined by a combination of fan votes and input from the Basketball Hall of Fame’s selection committee. Fans can go to http://www.hoophallawards.com to vote from March 9-23.

The winner will be honored at ESPN’s College Basketball Awards on April 6 in Los Angeles.
