Another piece of the 2018-19 regular season puzzle has been uncovered.

The Villanova Wildcats will return to the Gavitt Games with a game against a familiar foe; ‘Nova will host the Michigan Wolverines in a rematch of the 2018 National Championship game on Wednesday November 14th.

The date and tip-off time is yet to be determined.

If somehow you missed it, the Wildcats downed the Wolverines to win their second national title in three years. Keeping up with the theme of Villanova sixth men taking over championship games, the Wildcats darted ahead behind the stellar play of Donte DiVincenzo. DiVincenzo had 31 points in the 79-62 win.

Villanova is 2-0 in the Gavitt Tipoff Games, the annual series where Big East teams face off against Big Ten teams. The Wildcats previously beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers back in 2015, the inaugural year of the series. In 2016, they went on the road and downed the Purdue Boilermakers in Indiana.

Michigan is 0-1 so far, previously losing to Xavier back in 2015. The Wolverines have not played in the series since then.

Overall, the Big East and the Big Ten have split the eight-game series 4-4 over the last three seasons.

Here is a complete list of the 2018-19 Gavitt Tipoff Games:

  • Michigan at Villanova
  • St. John’s at Rutgers
  • Wisconsin at Xavier
  • Seton Hall at Nebraska
  • Penn State at DePaul

  • Marquette at Indiana
  • Georgetown at Illinois

Providence and Butler are the two Big East teams that will sit out from the series next season. For the Big Ten, Michigan State, Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Maryland will not be participating.
