The Villanova Wildcats will once again face the North Carolina Tar Heels in a “secret scrimmage” on October 27th.

This looks like the second half of a home and home, as UNC traveled to Villanova last year for one of these preseason controlled practices. With only one exhibition game on its schedule, a secret scrimmage was expected to pop up sometime this preseason for the Wildcats. Having it be against one of the other elite programs in college basketball is a huge bonus for a young team that will need to learn quickly.
Despite Jay Wright beating Roy Williams for the 2016 title, the two have clearly enjoyed a great working relationship, if not become good friends. Being two of only three active college coaches with multiple championships, the duo clearly has a lot of basketball knowledge to pass on to their players, and maybe even each other.
Last year’s scrimmage with UNC produced an insane box score. It was a little hard to believe at the time, but as the season played out it looked a lot more realistic. That scrimmage had Phil Booth with 41 points, Eric Paschall scoring 24, and Saddiq Bey with 23 points and 5 threes. It will be interesting to see what if any insight this year’s matchup will yield.
