Per sources, Jay Wright has announced that freshman forward Eric Dixon plans to redshirt the 2019-2020 season.
Villanova head coach Jay Wright says the plan for freshman forward and former Abington High School standout Eric Dixon is to take this year as a redshirt year to get into better shape. Wright says injuries can play a factor however

Dixon was the first member of the Class of 2019 to commit to the Wildcats, but had yet to see the court this season. The rumor was that a redshirt was coming, but Wright confirmed as much on Saturday.
Villanova has a history of high production from players following redshirt seasons. Omari Spellman, Donte DiVincenzo, Mikal Bridges, and Eric Paschall are just a few of the recent redshirt success stories, all of which are now playing in the NBA. Dixon, the former Pennsylvania Mr. Basketball, will still be available this season if injury or some other unfortunate change in plan would dictate him suiting up. But for now, expect the big man to keep working hard in practice as he and incoming transfer Caleb Daniels now effectively represent Villanova’s Class of 2020.
