Today the Villanova Wildcats announced that freshman guard Bryan Antoine has been medically cleared to play in games. Antoine had been recovering from shoulder surgery since the summer, and had just been cleared for practice earlier this month. The news means that the much anticipated rookie will be eligible to play this week in the Myrtle Beach Invitational.

In a release from earlier today, Jay Wright said they would be cautious with Antoine’s return. “Our plan is to bring Bryan along slowly. He’s only just returned to practice and the learning curve is steep for any freshman. Bryan’s working hard to catch up and we’re going to do all we can to help him in this transition.”

Antoine will likely come off the bench as he gets up to speed, and shouldn’t see more than a handful of minutes if any in Villanova’s three games in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His first opportunity for playing time will be this Thursday against Middle Tennessee.
