The wait is over!
Selection Sunday has ushered in March Madness and the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The Villanova Wildcats are a No. 6-seed in the South Region and will begin their journey in Hartford, Conn.
The defending National Champs head into the NCAA Tournament with a 25-9 record. They are fresh off of winning their third-straight Big East Tournament title, a feat that had never been done before in the conference’s history.
The Wildcats will take on the No. 11-seed Saint Mary’s Gaels to start. The Gaels are 22-11 this season and won the West Coast Conference championship after knocking off the favorite, the Gonzaga Bulldogs, by 13.
Villanova has its own history with Saint Mary’s. The ‘Cats previously met Saint Mary’s in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, when the Gaels upset the Wildcats in the Round of 32.
