Thanks to Seton Hall’s crazy come-from-behind victory over Marquette tonight (Myles Powell you are now a friend of the blog until Saturday at 11:59am), your Villanova Wildcats have officially clinched at least a share of the Big East regular season championship!
Both Villanova (at Seton Hall) and Marquette (home vs. Georgetown) have one game remaining on the schedule. The following scenarios are still in play:
- A win would give Villanova the outright title.
- A Marquette loss would give Villanova the outright title.
- A Marquette win and a Villanova loss would send us into the Beautiful Mind tiebreak scenarios as outlined by Brendan earlier this week.
In a season that has had as many ups as downs, this is quite the accomplishment for Jay Wright and his program. They are a win away from reasserting their dominance over the conference, but they’ll have to head to one of the toughest venues in the conference to do it.
Villanova takes on Seton Hall at 12:00pm ET on Saturday on FOX. Marquette vs. Georgetown is scheduled for 2:30pm on the same channel.
