Collin Gillespie and Jermaine Samuels have been selected to join a group of Big East Players to represent Team USA at the 2019 Pan-American Games.

The team will be led by Providence Coach Ed Cooley, and represents the first time a single D1 conference will represent the USA in men’s basketball at the competition. The single conference representation was announced in December, but the roster was just released today. The full roster will include the following players:

  • Ty-Shon Alexander, Creighton
  • Myles Cale, Seton Hall
  • Alpha Diallo, Providence
  • David Duke, Providence
  • Collin Gillespie, Villanova
  • Geoffrey Groselle, Creighton
  • Mustapha Heron, St. John’s
  • Greg Malinowski, Georgetown
  • Luwane Pipkins, Providence
  • Myles Powell, Seton Hall
  • A.J. Reeves, Providence
  • Jermaine Samuels, Villanova
  • Nate Watson, Providence
  • Tyler Wideman, Butler

The three teams that were not represented on the 14 man roster are DePaul, Marquette, and Xavier. Marquette is especially surprising given that they return the reigning Big East Player of the Year in Markus Howard, who will not be playing in the Pan-Am Games.
