Team USA kicks things off for Men’s Basketball 5x5 in their first matchup of the 2019 Pan American Games. This year’s squad is comprised of Big East All-Stars, including Villanova starters Collin Gillespie and Jermaine Samuels.

The United States begins group play with their lone early game of the first three days. They will play Venezuela at 10:00 PM ET on Thursday night, followed by Puerto Rico at 10:00 PM ET on Friday night to round out the opening round for Group A. They’ll then have either a consolation or semi-final game on Saturday, and finally the medal rounds on Sunday evening. The full schedule is available here.

Team USA has not won gold in this event at the Pan Am Games since Michael Jordan was on the team. Gillespie and Samuels will look to end that drought, despite being the youngest team in the event. We’ll have a full write-up following the game, be sure to check back for a recap of how our boys did!
