Villanova announces portion of 2020-21 early season schedule

More pieces of the puzzle are in, but there’s still a few more to wait on.

Shortly after the Big East announced the December slate of conference games on Wednesday morning, the Villanova Wildcats followed up with a bulk of its early schedule for the 2020-21 season.

Given the nature of COVID-19 and scheduling, these nine games have been locked in for November and December. Tip-off times and networks will also be announced at a later date.

The Wildcats expect a 27-game regular season, so 16 more Big East games and dates will be announced later, and the same goes for two more non-conference games.

Big East commissioner Val Ackerman said on Wednesday that the Big 10 and Big East mutually agreed to postpone the Gavitt Games and resume that next year.

However, the Big East and Big 12 will play its series, so it appears that the Texas game will be one of the two non-conference games that we’re waiting to hear an official date for. The other one might be La Salle.

According to Ackerman, the Big 12-Big East series will begin in December.

Of the nine confirmed and announced dates, Villanova will be hosting four home games at the Finneran Pavilion. Spectators will be allowed at the games, however, crowds will not exceed more than 15 percent of the 6,501-seat capacity. Also, attendance will be limited to students, faculty, staff, and players’ families.
