It’s official, college basketball is coming back.
The NCAA Division I council set the start date for the 2020-21 season to begin on Nov. 25. The council voted to approve the proposed start date, which was first recommended by the men’s and women’s basketball oversight committee a couple of weeks ago.
In addition to the start date, teams will be allowed to officially begin practice on Oct. 14. No scrimmages or exhibition games will be permitted.
According to Andy Katz, the maximum number of regular season games is set to 27, while the minimum number of games is 13.
There are still other logistics to figure out and guidelines to come, like procedures for fan attendance, schedules, and the bubble ideas that are floating around, but Wednesday marked an important first step for returning to the court.
