The NCAA Tournament is back!
After last year’s tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, March Madness is on for 2021.
The Villanova Wildcats head are a 5-seed in the South Region for this year’s NCAA Tournament. They will begin their journey in Indianapolis against 12th-seeded Winthrop to start.
Winthrop enters 23-1 and is fresh off of a Big South championship. The Eagles navigated their conference tournament with relative ease, putting up over 80 points per game and winning each matchup by double figures.
The winner takes on No. 4 Purdue or No. 13 North Texas.
Villanova enters the NCAA Tournament with a 16-6 record. The Wildcats were bounced out of the Big East Tournament, after a quarterfinal loss to eventual champion Georgetown. They have been hampered by injuries, but will look to bounce back from back-to-back losses with a win against Winthrop.
It will be the Wildcats’ first-ever meeting with the Eagles.
