2020-21 All-Big East teams announced: Three Wildcats earn honors

Gillespie and Robinson-Earl were named first team All-Big East, while Samuels earned an honorable mention.

On Sunday, the Big East announced its all-conference selections.

Three Wildcats were recognized for their play this season. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl was a unanimous selection for the All-Big East first team, and Collin Gillespie was selected to join him. Jermaine Samuels was given a honorable mention.

Robinson-Earl and Seton Hall’s Sandro Mamukelashvili were the only unanimous picks for the All-Big East first team.

Robinson-Earl led the ‘Cats with team-high averages of 15.2 and 8.4 rebounds per game. He shot 48.3% on the floor and 76.3% from the free throw line.

As for Gillespie, the Villanova floor general averaged 14.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, before going down with a season-ending knee injury. He shot 42.8% on the floor and 37.6% from deep.

Samuels was awarded with an All-Big East honorable mention. The Villanova senior co-captain notched career-highs in nearly every statistical category. He averaged 11.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He shot a career-best 47.9% overall and 41.2% from long range.

The Big East plans on announcing Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Wednesday.

Other individual awards, such as Big East Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, Sixth Man of the Year, and Sportsmanship Award will be announced on Monday morning.
