It was first announced in April, but now it’s officially official.
Villanova will play Boston College in the sixth annual Never Forget Tribute Classic at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. Tip-off is now locked in at 5 p.m. ET on Dec. 10 and will be broadcast on FOX, per an announcement on Tuesday afternoon.
The event is a fundraiser that benefits 9/11 charity.
“We had the opportunity to take part in the 2016 Never Forget Tribute Classic against Notre Dame,” said Villanova coach Kyle Neptune in a statement. “That was an amazing experience for our team honoring the families of victims of the Sept. 11 attacks while playing in an awesome environment at Prudential Center. We’re looking forward to returning in December to face one of Villanova’s great former Big East rivals, Boston College.”
Villanova fared well in its previous matchup against Boston College, which came back in the 2020-21 season opener at Bubbleville. The ‘Cats finished strong in the second half to take a 76-67 win.
It also did very well in its last two appearances in the Never Forget Tribute Classic. The Wildcats shined in the first edition of the event back in 2016, where Josh Hart delivered a memorable 37-point performance in a packed Prudential Center, as ‘Nova defeated Notre Dame in a battle of top 25 teams.
The ‘Cats returned there in 2019, and held off Delaware for a 78-70 win.
Boston College went 13-20 last season, and 6-14 in conference play.
