Lorenzo Fertitta Jr., the 179th rated CB nationally according to Rivals, became the second commitment in Villanova's 2013 football recruiting class in late July 2012. Fertitta, who stands 5'9" and and weighs in at 165 lbs., committed to Villanova over San Diego. He also showed interest in Cornell and San Diego and Scout.com reports an offer from FBS member UNLV.

Fertitta, a Semper Fi All-American in 2012, rushed the ball 52 times for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns in his junior season while also catching 9 passes for 126 yards. In his senior season, Fertitta played almost exclusively at DB and tied at NIAA record with 4 interceptions in a single game this season.

It was a close call between 'Nova and San Diego, but after camping with the Wildcats staff he knew it was the place for him.

"I had a chance to talk with my family and we knew Villanova would be the better choice," he said. "Going to the East Coast sounded very interesting. I really liked the campus. It had that old look and everything."

Fertitta has the speed to play in Villanova's 3-3-5 alignment but may need some time to add the muscle required to play against college WRs, though he comes into college a very sure tackler. Villanova needs secondary help with Ronnie Akins and Eric Loper graduating.
