Thomas Plonski Signs With Villanova

The standout DE from Brooklyn Tech will be groomed to contribute on Villanova's defensive line.

Thomas Plonski, the 46th rated strongside DE nationally according to 247sports, became the third commitment in Villanova's 2013 football recruiting class late in the summer. Plonski stands 6'6" and weighs in at 245 lbs. He chose the Wildcats over Fordham and James Madison. Wagner, Old Dominion and Marist were also under consideration while Rivals.com reports an offer from FBS-level Buffalo.

Plonski should fit right into Villanova's scheme as he recorded 54 tackles and 7 sacks as a junior and 53 tackles and 5 sacks as a senior.

Plonski cited Villanova's reputation for success both on and off the field as a key reason for his decision.

"A lot of those schools are just football factories; Villanova is [Football College Subdivision], so they actually play for a national championship, not a bowl game named after a restaurant," Plonski said. "It’s a great to play football at, have fun and get a great education."

Defensive line has been a strength for the run-stopping Wildcats in recent seasons, so reloading the depth chart with talented players is key, especially since mainstay Marlon Johnson has moved on due to graduation and a number of other key players are entering their senior seasons.
