Opponent Information

Opponent Profile: The Georgia State Panthers are a member of the the Colonial Athletic Association for all sports but will be moving to the Sun Belt conference when they move to the FBS level in 2014. The football team was founded in 2010 at the FCS level and joined the CAA in 2012. Georgia State is in the process of moving up to the FBS level and will play a Sun Belt schedule starting in 2013. Because they have already begun increasing their scholarships, they are not eligible for the CAA or FCS Championships.

Last Week: GSU got off the schneid with their first win of the season, a 41-7 romp over Rhode Island.

Coaches & Players

Head Coach: Bill Curry has been charged with building the Georgia State football program after stints at Georgia Tech, Alabama and Kentucky. Curry is an Atlanta native and a natural fit to help build the GSU brand. Curry posted a winning 6-5 record in his inaugural season before going 3-9 in year two. The Panthers are struggling to compete in a stacked CAA conference as FBS play looms not far in the future.

Top Assistants: John Bond runs the offense and the quarterbacks and coached with Curry at Georgia Tech. He owns 27 years of coaching experience. Anthony Midget is in his first season as the defensive coordinator and continues to coach the defensive secondary as well.

Most Famous Football Alum: Unfortunately, no famous football alums have yet to emerge from GSU. However. Ludacris was a Georgia State Panther. So obviously, post your favorite Luda videos in the comments.

Key Offensive Players: QB Ben McLane | RB Donald Russell | WR Albert Wilson

Key Defensive Players: LB Joseph Peterson | LB Kail Singleton | DB Akeen Felder
