Opponent Information

Opponent Profile: Boston College is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference in all sports after leaving the Big East Conference before the 2005 season. This will be the 46th meeting between the Eagles and Wildcats on the gridiron, but the first since Villanova stunned a strong BC team on the Main Line in 1980. The Eagles claim the 1940 National Championship in football. In 2012, however, their fortunes were at a low point, when they went just 2-10 with wins over I-AA Maine and an ailing Maryland program. A new coach, Steve Addazio, was brought in during the offseason to attempt to right the ship.

Coaches & Players

Head Coach: Steve Addazio is in his 1st season at BC, bringing a 13-11 head coaching record from his two seasons at Temple, including a win in the 2011 New Mexico Bowl. Addazio rose to prominence after a successful run as offensive coordinator at the university of Florida under Urban Meyer — where he was on a staff that won two BCS National Championships.

Most Famous Football Alum: Doug Flutie. We could go through a list of other guys who have played in the NFL or who currently are (Matt Ryan?), but BC only has one football alum with his own cereal. Flutie also loans his name to the "Flutie Effect," which is one way of explaining the power of a high-profile athletic success on a college's academics and rankings. Plus, he was the only NFL player to successfully complete a drop kick since 1941.

Key Offensive Players: QB Chase Rettig | RT Ian White | WR Alex Amidon

Key Defensive Players: LB Kevin Pierre-Louis | LB Steele Divitto | DB Sean Sylvia
