Two Villanova Wildcats have been honored by the CAA for their performances in Saturday's 37-0 victory over Albany.
In a much needed victory, the 'Nova Defense was anchored by Cameron McCurry. The senior defensive back finished with five tackles, two interceptions, one pass breakup and a forced fumble (to stall an Albany drive inside the 5-yard line) and has been named Defensive Player of the Week.
Freshman quarterback Zach Bednarczyk finished a perfect 12-of-12 passing for 152 yards and two touchdowns in Villanova’s victory and in the process set a Villanova school record for completion percentage, passing John Robertson’s 16-of-17 performance from 2013. He added eight carries for 22 yards on the ground for the Wildcats and walked away as the CAA's Rookie of the Week.
Andy Talley's squad is next in action on Saturday the 24th when they travel to take on the Towson Tigers for a 7p kickoff.
