Super Bowl XLIX: A Villanova Connection

One New England coach was on Andy Talley's staff, twice.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

There are no Villanova alumns who will be suiting up for the Seattle Seahawks or New England Patriots this evening for Super Bowl XLIX. Heck there are no players from the CAA Conference. And only a handful of FCS players set to play.

However, 'Nova does have a connection to the big game that kicks off at 630 on Sunday evening. Brendan Daly spent two tours on the Main Line on Andy Talley's staff where he coached the tight ends and coordinated the defensive & special team scout units in 1999. In 2005, he was the Defensive Line coach before he moved to Minnesota to be the Vikings' Assistant D-Line Coach.

This is his first season on Bill Belichick's staff as a defensive assistant coach.
