Villanova Football: Tony Trisciani takes defensive coordinator position at Elon

Another tough loss for the Villanova staff.

In addition to defensive coordinator Billy Crocker taking the same position at UConn, the Villanova Wildcats have lost secondary coach/recruiting coordinator Tony Trisciani to conference rival Elon. Trisciani will be the defensive coordinator under new head coach Curt Cignetti.

The move was first reported by Football Scoop Staff on January 7th, and Trisciani has already updated his Twitter profile, confirming the move.

Like Crocker, this is a tough loss for Mark Ferrante in advance of his first full season in charge. While we expect Joe Trainer to be a leading candidate to fill the vacant DC role, he’ll need to replace another of his top staffers. Trisciani helped develop Villanova’s secondary into one of the best in the country.

Keep an eye out for more staff changes and/or additions.
