Villanova inked a deal to play two future games against the traditional in-state football power, Penn State. The Wildcats will travel to State College, PA in 2021 and 2025, reviving a series that had been dormant since Villanova knocked off the Nittany Lions all the way back in 1951, on the back-end of Villanova’s “Sinful Seven” turn.

The games are both scheduled on the front-end of their respective seasons, on Sept. 25, 2021, and Sept. 13, 2025, respectively. Both games will be played at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa.

”We are excited about the opportunity to get Penn State on the schedule. Playing two games in one of the best atmospheres in college football will be a great experience for our team,” said Villanova head coach Mark Ferrante. “I think the Nova Nation will be excited to make the trip to Happy Valley. This game makes a lot sense for us on a number of levels.”

This deal will set up the ninth and tenth meetings between the teams. Penn State currently leads the series by a 3-4-1 count.

This will be Wildcats’ first ever games against a team in the Big Ten. They have previously played eight games against Penn State prior to their affiliation with the conference, four times against Rutgers, prior to their joining, and once against Maryland.
