Villanova Basketball Recruiting Roundup from Saturday’s Nike Peach Jam

The PSA Cardinals are in the Peach Jam finals.

In what looks like their final day of Peach Jam viewing (Jay Wright is already back in Philly this morning watching Trevon Duval), the staff watched the usual suspects, with a few new faces mixed in.

Those new faces would be 2019 all-everything recruits R.J. Barrett and Andrew Nembhard. Nembhard is a 6'4" point guard while Barrett is a 6'6" small forward. The Canadians are set to play at Montverde Academy (Fla.) this fall, and both should be among the most sought after recruits in the country. Barrett's probably out of Villanova's reach, but Nembhard should be right at the top of the board for the Wildcats along with Cole Anthony.

The 'Nova staff then went three-deep for the PSA Cardinals (N.Y.) vs. Expressions Elite (Mass.) Peach Jam quarterfinal. Jermaine Samuels limped off with an injury - Xavier is the flavor du jour in his Crystal Ball post-Peach Jam - and that allowed the PSA Cardinals to come away with the win.

Brandon Randolph is still the most likely 'Nova target on the Cardinals IMO, though I'm sure Wright will continue to chase Mohamed Bamba for as long as he feels he has a shot. The ship has probably sailed on Quade Green though, which explains the recent push for Collin Sexton.

Speaking of Sexton, Wright was back watching him again on Saturday afternoon before the assistant coaches swung by Barrett and Nembhard's afternoon game. If Villanova can't get a foothold in his recruitment and land a visit from Sexton, it might be all-in on Trevon Duval.d

The Peach Jam finals are live on ESPNU at 2pm ET today. The PSA Cardinals are playing MoKan Elite - they feature Michael Porter and Trae Young - and it should be a quality basketball game if you're in the mood.
