Villanova Football Depth Chart: Turrell & Logan join the 1st team

The 'Cats have lost one of their best in the passing attack.

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

The Villanova depth chart is now out for Saturday's home game against Rhode Island, and we're keeping an eye on the second unit here as they are likely to see extended playing time on Saturday it what is expected to be a game that is no longer in doubt by halftime.

On offense, Doug Turrell has moved in to the #1 TE role after Morgan Craig switched to defense and starter Earnest Pettway was likely lost for the season last week at Maine. The bigger news is that Purdue transfer Ryan Morris will be backing up Turrell. Both Turrell and Morris are probably better served in the run-game, but Morris is likely the best candidate to replace Pettway in the red zone.

Mike Burke looks to be back in action after an injury forced him out of the Maine game. With Pettway's absence, we might see more sets that involve both Lincoln Collins and Clay Horne.

Starting center Ross Hall is still nowhere to be found on the depth chart. There has been no official announcement on an injury yet, so Peter Sotiriou will continue to deputize in his absence.

On defense, there appears to be just one change. C.J. Logan appeared to play more than Malik Reaves last week, and this week he's officially taken over the starting cornerback spot opposite Jason Ceneus.

Everything else remains unchanged from a week ago. Here's the full depth chart from Villanova.
