Villanova & Rhode Island: Series History

In the penultimate regular-season game for both teams, Rhode Island ends their home schedule hosting the Wildcats. The Ram's 3-7 record with victories over Albany, Central Connecticut, and Richmond is an improvement over their winless 0-11 campaign in 2012.

URI is last in the CAA in offense, averaging 15.9 points per game. Their rushing game is 8th in the conference at 157 yds and through the air, behind senior QB Bob Bentsen, they are 10th with just over 200 yards. Defensively, the Rams are giving up 35 point a game.

Coach

Joe Trainer is in his 5th season at Rhode Island where he has a 12-42 record. Prior to the position in Kingston, Trainer was the head coach at Millersville (PA). In the eight years before Millersville, Trainer was an assistant at Villanova under Andy Talley. At 'Nova he began as the linebackers coach before being promoted to Defensive Coordinator in 2005.
